Installation

About this section

This section describes the installation and uninstallation of the Communication Engin-
eering Tool (CET), the installation of the touch screen, and modifying and setting up of
the COM600 computer. For more detailed instructions on installation of the gateway
components, refer to the 1.8, Related documents.

Requirements for Communication Engineering Tool

Requirements for CET:
•
Microsoft® Windows® XP
•
Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0 (installed automatically during CET installation,
if it is not already on the PC)
• Free hard disk space: minimum 500 MB, recommended 1GB

Installing Communication Engineering Tool

To install CET:
1. Close all open programs and insert the Communication Engineering Tool installation
CD to the CD-ROM drive of your PC.
2. The Installation program should start automatically. If this does not happen, open
the program by browsing to the CD drive, and starting COM_600.exe.
3. Wait for the Wise Installation Wizard to extract the installation files to your PC.
4. The Communication Engineering Tool Installation program opens. Click Next.
At any stage of the installation, you can return to the previous window by clicking
Back or exit the Installation Wizard by clicking Cancel.
5. Read the License Agreement, then check the option I accept the license agreement
and click Next to continue the installation.
If you check the option I do not accept the license agreement, the Next button is
not available and you cannot continue the installation.
6. Select the folder where you want to install CET.
• To select the default folder shown at the bottom of the window, click Next.
• To select another folder, click Browse, select the folder you want, and click
Next.
The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\ABB\COM600.
7. Select the desired installation type.
•
Typical: This option is recommended for most users.
•
Complete: All CET features will be installed.
• Custom: Use this option to choose which CET features you want installed and
where they will be installed.
8. Click Next to begin the installation.
