Pressure Sensor

The Pressure Sensor has two functions:
1. Detects when water levels increase in the tub,
sending a frequency (Hz) back to the control.
2. Detects when the washer has an unbalanced
load, utilizing the position of a ball bearing inside
the sensor.
The pressure sensor is connected by a clear hose to
an air reservoir near the bottom of the outer tub,
and operates by a frequency (kHz) signal to the
machine control.
The pressure sensor wires (orange, white and violet)
are connected at pins 1, 2, and 3 at the three pin
blue connecter on the machine control. (See the
Control Board and Wire Connection Locater in the
Component Locator Views section of this guide.)
When the water level rises in the washer tub, air is
trapped in the reservoir (or chamber). As the water
level rises, the air pressure in the reservoir increases.
The pressure is translated into an electrical
signal (frequency) by the pressure sensor.
The frequency will vary from approximately 27
kHz (empty tub) to 22 kHz (full tub).
This frequency can be measured with a Hz meter
at the sensor between the orange and violet
wires.
The frequency is monitored by the PCB, which turns
achieved.
NOTE: The water level in the NORMAL CYCLE will
vary slightly depending on the load size, which
is measured by the weight recognition function.
This information is sent to the PCB, which then
determines the appropriate water level.

Pressure Sensor Removal

NOTE: Before disconnecting the pressure sensor
tube from the sensor, make sure the water level is
below the bottom of the basket.
1. Remove the rear component cover. (see rear
component cover).
2. Disconnect the pressure sensor wire harness.
3. Carefully push the three clips slightly outward,
and then lift the sensor up and out of the pocket.
4. Flip the sensor over to access the clamp that
secures the tube to the sensor.
