3.7.3 Mean Axial Velocity Method

Warning. When inserting or removing the flow sensor suitable restraining equipment must be used to
prevent the flow sensor being forced out under pressure. Ensure that the valve is fully open.
Note. Safety restraint omitted for clarity.

Referring to Fig. 3.11:
a Determine the internal diameter (D).
b Measure to the top of the valve plate (VP).
c Slacken the nut.
d Lower the flow sensor to touch the valve
plate.
e Slide the positioning collar down to the nut
and lock in place.
f Retract the flow sensor fully.
g Unlock, slide the positioning collar down
and lock at the distance:

h Open the valve fully.
i Insert flow sensor to position the collar
depth.
j Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft lbf).
