Chapter 1 Maintenance
Is power-on of the CPU blade in the slot having the larger number delayed?
→ If the power-on process is performed by the procedure described above, the power-on of CPU
blade in the slot having the larger number is delayed.
Does it take time until a power is supplied to CPU blade?
→ When power-on process is performed, the CPU blade notifies the EM card, and wait for permission.
If the EM card is processing other task and it is busy, permission for power-on is delayed.
Is Wake On Ring set to Enable in BIOS Setup Utility?
→ When Wake On Ring is enabled, remote power-on is not allowed, and you can power on the server
only by using POWER Switch on the server. If you change the AC Link setting while Wake On Ring
is enabled, press POWER Switch twice to start up the server.
[?] The remote power-on through the network does not work (Wake On LAN does not work)
Is the system shut down using methods other than OS shutdown?
→ When the power of the system is turned off not by the OS shutdown command but by methods
such as turning off the power switch while BIOS setup utility is operating or the forced shutdown
(pressing POWER Switch on the CPU blade at least four seconds), Wake On LAN may not work
properly. When you use Wake On LAN, be sure to shut down by the OS command.
[?] POST runs several times
→ This is normal process. POST runs several times depending on hardware configuration or boot
control feature specified on EM card.
[?] "System Configuration Data Read Error" appears and POST pauses
Did you perform any of the following operation during POST?
– Pressed POWER Switch of the CPU blade to forcedly power off the CPU blade.
– Pressed RESET Switch of the CPU blade to provide hardware reset.
– Removed the CPU blade from Blade Enclosure.
– Disconnected the power cord from Blade Enclosure.
→ Contact your sales representative.
[?] The MAC address of the onboard LAN on the CPU blade is unknown
→ You can find the MAC address by the label put near the MP connector on the CPU blade. See
Chapter 2 (2.1.1 Checking MAC address) in User's Guide.
[?] POST does not complete
Is memory installed correctly?
→ Check if memory is installed correctly.
Is the memory size large?
→ The memory check takes longer than usual if the installed memory size is large. Wait until
checking memory is finished.
Did you perform any keyboard or mouse operation immediately after you started the server?
→ If you perform any keyboard or mouse operation immediately after start-up, POST accidentally
detects a keyboard controller error and stops processing. Restart the server and do not perform
any keyboard or mouse operation until the BIOS start-up message appears.
Are memory and PCI devices supported for this server?
→ Unauthorized devices are not available for the server.
