OPERATION
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Loose knives
Gear tooth damaged
Worn universal joint
Machine lifted too high
Excessive trash wrapped
on rotor
May be normal or new machine Allow time for break-in
Low oil level
Worn gears
Slip clutch slipping
Broken Gear /Gears
Badly worn blades
Slip clutch slipping
Ground speed too fast
for conditions
Trash wrapped around

Low oil level in gearbox

Damaged seals

POSSIBLE REMEDY
Tighten knives
Replace damaged gear
Replace universal joint
Lower machine and readjust
tractor lift stop
Remove trash
Add oil
Replace gears
Reduce load to Tiller or
Adjust slip clutch
Replace Gears
Replace worn blades
Adjust slip clutch or
reduce load
Reduce ground speed
Remove trash
Add oil
Reduce load to machine or
adjust slip clutch
Replace seals
Drain to proper level (1/2 full)
