13. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Problem
Tillage depth is insufficient
Tines balling up with soil
Rotor will not turn
plugger is bouncing
on the ground
Tines breaking or bent
sideways
Bending frame and/or tines
plugger makes intermittent
clicking noise

OPERATION
Possible Cause
Not enough weight in weight tray.
Ground is too hard
Ground Speed is too fast.
plugger is set too high.
Tines are worn or bent.
Tines are incorrectly installed.
Obstacles are entangled in tines
and/or rotor.
Tractor has insufficient power.
Soil is too wet.
Rotor is plugged with trash.
Tines are worn or bent.
Tines are incorrectly installed.
Tractor speed is too fast.
Obstacles are entangled in tines
and/or rotor.
Rotor is plugged with trash.
Obstacles are entangled in tines
and/or rotor.
Tines are not installed correctly.
Making too sharp a turn with tines
in the ground.
Operating plugger over concrete,
asphalt, tree stumps, rocks, curbs,
& other solid objects.
Too much weight in weight tray.
Tines are loose.

Remedy
Add weight to the weight tray.
Irrigate field or wait for rain fall.
Decrease ground speed.
Remove one of more cylinder stops.
Replace tines.
Check placement of tine cutting edge.
Clear rotor and/or tines of obstacles.
Shift to a lower gear and increase
tractor rpm.
Wait until soil dries.
Remove trash from rotor.
Replace tines.
Install tines correctly.
Decrease tractor speed.
Clear rotor and/or tines of obstacles.
Remove trash from rotor.
Clear rotor and/or tines.
Install tines correctly.
Raise plugger out of the ground to
make sharp turns.
Do not operator plugger over solid
objects.
Do not add more than recommended
additional weight.
Tighten tines.
