6.2 Starting up the radio gateway

Building Technologies
Fire Safety
Before radio detectors can be logged on to the radio gateway, the radio gateway
must be started up.
WARNING
Several radio gateways using the same basic channel
The radio detectors communicate using several radio gateways. Faults or
malfunctions will arise.
Start up radio gateways one after in the same transmission field.
If you want to start up several radio gateways, they have to be started up one after
another in the same transmission field such that every radio gateway can establish
its own basic channel in configuration operation and logged on radio detectors
each communicate with just one radio gateway.
You can then also fit the radio gateways at a greater distance.
This will also ensure that temporary changes to the transmission fields do not
result in malfunctions as a result of the same basic channels being occupied
several times over.
Procedure:
w The FDnet detector line must be switched off.
w The radio gateway is in its delivery status.
w Several radio gateways must not be started up at the same time.
w There is a new battery ready for the radio gateway.
1. Unlock the housing cover of the radio gateway on the face side using a pin.
2. Remove the housing cover.
3. Insert a new battery.
a Radio gateway switches from start-up operation to configuration operation
for basic channel
a Red and green LEDs flash slowly in turn
a Radio gateway searches for free basic channel and signals result
– channel found: Green LED flashing slowly
– no channel found: Red LED flashing slowly
a Radio gateway is ready for configuration operation
If the red LED flashes twice once the battery has been inserted, the battery
voltage is too low.
Insert a new battery.
If a basic channel isn't found, you will find assistance in the 'Maintenance
/ troubleshooting' chapter.
