Interior
The Airstream interior has been designed
for comfort, convenience, durability and
appearance. How you use it and how you
take care of it naturally depends on you
However, if you learn how to operate the
interior components and take care of them
and the trailer properly, this knowledge will
add to your pleasure as well as the long life
of your trailer.
Drapery, upholstery and mattress covers
must be professionally dry cleaned.
Frequent vacuum cleaning is
recommended.
Your Airstream upholstery is treated with
Scotchgard and should repel moisture.
Minor spills should be removed by
blotting. Avoid rubbing as this will cause
a stain to work itself into the fabric.
The cleanability code for the green and
gold color schemes is code S. Spot
clean, using a mild, water-free solvent or
dry cleaning product. Pre-test small area
before proceeding.
The rust color scheme requires
cleanability code X. Clean this fabric only
by vacuuming or light brushing to
prevent accumulation of dust or grime.
Water-based foam or solvent-based
cleaning agents of any kind may cause
excessive shrinking, fading or possible
pile distortion.
The beige color scheme requires
cleanability code W. Spot clean, using
the foam only from a water-based
cleaning agent, such as a mild detergent
or non-solvent upholstery shampoo
product. Apply foam with a soft brush in
a circular motion and vacuum when dry.
Pre-test small area before proceeding.
We suggest calling a professional furniture
cleaner when an overall soiled condition is
reached. Any tumble cleaning method can
destroy the backing, shrink or otherwise
damage upholstery fabric.
Use the following procedure to remove
drapery panels for cleaning:
1. Front lounge, both roadside and
curbside - unsnap the dot fasteners
holding the lower and upper rear
corner to the outer wall, Remove the
rear most screw holding the lower
drapery track to the outer wall.
Remove three screws attaching the
upper drapery track end cap and
remove the cap. Slide drapery panels
to the rear until they are completely
free of both tracks.
2. Front wrap-around drapes —unsnap
dot fastener holding the corners
of the curbside and roadside panels to
the outer trailer walls. Remove the two
rear most screws holding lower tracks
to outer trailer wall, Slide the drapery
panels to the rear until they are
completely free of both upper and
lower tracks.
3. Side bedroom windows, both roadside
and curbside —using a
Va"
size drill bit,
drill out the pop rivet holding one of
the dot fasteners to the lower drapery
track. There are two fasteners, one at
each end of the track, on both the
curbside and roadside. Select the end
with the most clearance between track
end and bulkhead wall. Remove the
corresponding screw from the end of
the upper track. Remove drapery
panels by sliding them clear of both
upper and lower track.
After replacing drapes, reinstall dot fas¬
teners using a pop rivet of correct diameter.
The carpet can be cleaned with any good
commercial carpet cleaner, or with a de¬
tergent and water.
Be careful not to soak
the carpet with water, however.
The counter areas around the sink are of a
high-pressure laminate and can be
cleaned with soap and water, or you can
use a common cleaning solvent on tough
spots. Be sure no abrasive cleaner is used
as there is the possibility it could scratch
the surface. A protective pad should al¬
ways be placed under hot utensils.
The walls can be cleaned with any vinyl
cleaner or with any mild household de¬
tergent and water. But, again, no abrasives.
The high-pressure laminate wood of the
wardrobes and cabinets may be waxed, if
desired, or may be cleaned simply with a
damp cloth.
See the bathroom section for cleaning and
maintenance suggestions for the ABS plas¬
tic surfaces.
