Service Diagnostics and Procedures
To avoid risk of electrical shock, personal injury, or death, disconnect gas supply and electrical power to unit
before servicing. After servicing, reconnect electrical power and gas supply.

Side Burner

The side burner is available on some models. When
the side burner valve is turned on, gas begins to
flow and the spark switch sends a spark to the
igniter. This spark comes in contact with the gas
and creates ignition.
To access the side burner:
1. Remove grates, burner bowls, and grate
support.
2. Remove screws securing burner.
3. Lift burner and separate air shutter from orifice.

WARNING
4. Disconnect igniter wire and remove burner.
Igniter Wire
5. Remove two screws securing igniter to burner.
6. Reverse procedure to reassemble.
If burner does not ignite, verify spark and gas flow
at burner. Visually look for a spark at the burner. If
no spark is found, ohm igniter and verify no cracks.
If igniter is proper, verify spark switch wiring and
power source. If power is supplied, spark wires are
intact, and still no spark, switch igniters. If still no
spark, verify 120 VAC to spark module input from
spark switch. If good, replace faulty spark module.
If no gas is available, make sure the gas is turned on
the supply is available. If supply is proper and still
no flow verify gas valve and orifice. If orifice or air
shutter is not plugged and still no flow, replace the
gas valve.
