BC/VS-2216: 16x16 Programmable Stereo Audio Matrix Switcher
The BC-2216 Programmable Stereo Audio Matrix Switcher is the top of the line of Kramer's audio
switchers. The BC-2216 serves as a 16x16 Stereo Audio switcher, for any studio application. The
machine may be operated as a stand-alone matrix or work in conjunction with the KRAMER BC-
2516 Video Switcher.
The BC-2216 unit has an LCD readout and a key-pad controlled operation. The unit has a bright
LED readout showing the switchers status and a microprocessor built-in with an EEPROM for
storing and retrieving settings.
Operation:
 Connect all sources and acceptors to the rear panel of the BC-2216 machine, as
explained in the following diagrams.
 Interconnect, if necessary, the BC-2216 unit to either the BC-2516 or the BC-2616
machines using a flat cable with DB9 male-to-male connectors on each side.
 Connect a cable between the DB9 socket of the BC-2216 unit to the serial port of the
PC for RS-232 control
 Install the accompanying software on your hard disk, following the instructions in
the distribution diskette.
 Operate the sources, acceptors as well as the BC-2216 unit.
 The keypad operation is interactive. In order to perform a function, the required
function switch (CON, SYS, STO, or RCL) should be pressed. The LCD back-light
will turn on, and a dialogue between the user and machine is initiated.
 CONnect - to connect an input to a selected output.
 SYStem - This function selects whether the user wishes to work in audio breakaway
or not, i.e., should the audio switching be done separately from the video switching,
or should it follow the video switching. This function is also used for setting the
baud rate for the RS-232 communication port. When using this SYStem function,
please note that if you do not want to change a parameter, simply pressing ENT (i.e.
ENTER) will leave the previously set parameter in effect.
 STOre - to save the present setup of the machine in memory. Up to 15 setups may
be saved.
 RCL - the recall key is used to recall a setup saved in memory. The recalled setup
will blink on the LED displays, and user confirmation is required if the setup is to be
implemented.
PROGRAM display:
When using the keypad to control the machine, the LCD display becomes a user-friendly interface
between the user and the machine - prompting for user input, warning before data may be erased,
informing of setup parameters, etc.
