4.0 USING THE MICROSCOPE
4.11 Video capturing (optional)
Two kinds of observation heads, binocular or trinocular, are available for the B-600 series.
They can all be connected to cameras via a photo/video adaptor, for photo and video captu-
ring. Before taking a picture or filming video, if necessary, obscure with a dark cloth both the
camera viewfinder and the eyepieces and pull out the light path selector lever. Please refer
to the adaptor and camera manuals for further details.
4.12 Using the phase contrast set (optional)
The phase contrast set has 4 objectives for phase contrast and one condenser, with 4 rings
of phase, and one position for bright field. To use the phase contrast, remove the abbe con-
denser of the microscope and replace it with the phase contrast condenser.
If, during use, the phase contrast diaphragm rings (anuli) are dislod-
ged, they can be realigned rotating the alignment screws placed on
two sides of each ring, using the enclosed tools. In particular:
Select an objective corresponding to the ring to be realigned, and
focus on a slide under bright field illumination.
The selector of the condenser has 5 selectable positions:
To use when it is necessary to be used the instrument in bright field
Insert the phase ring to be realigned.
Remove an eyepiece, and replace it with the centring telescope.
Focus the centring telescope, without touching the microscope
focus, in order to focus the phase ring and the phase plate simulta-
neously. In particular, the phase plate is visible as a dark ring, and
the phase ring as a bright ring divided into sectors.
Turning the two phase ring centring screws, position the phase ring
(bright ring) so that it is completely contained in the phase plate
profile (dark ring). (See figure.)
Remove the telescope, and replace the eyepiece.
4.13 Dark field condenser (optional)
For dark field observation, the Abbe condenser in standard equipment must be replaced
with a special condenser for dark field, showed in the picture.
