Table 3. Light Path Diagnostics
Lit light on
diagnostics
panel
None
An error has occurred and can not be isolated,
or the ASM processor has failed.
PS
Power supply has failed.
TEMP
The system temperature has exceeded a
threshold level.
FAN
A fan has failed or is operating too slowly.
Note: A failing fan can also cause the TEMP
SP
The service processor has failed.
MEM
A memory error occurred.
CPU
One of the microprocessors has failed.
VRM
One of the VRMs on the system board has
failed.

Cause

Action
An error has occurred that is not represented by
a Light Path Diagnostics light. Check the
System Error log for more information about the
error.
Have the system serviced.
1.
Check to see if a fan has failed. If it has,
replace the fan.
2.
Make sure the room temperature is not too
hot. (See "Features and specifications" in
the User's Guide on the
CD
IBM Documentation
If the problem persists, have the system
serviced.
Check the lights on the fans and replace the
indicated fan.
Remove ac power from the server and then
restart the server.
Note: Wait 30 seconds before turning on the
server.
If the problem persists, have the system
serviced.

Check the DIMM failure lights on the system
board.
2.
Replace the DIMM indicated by the lit DIMM
failure light.
1.
Check the microprocessor failure lights on
the system board.
2.
If a microprocessor failure light is on, make
sure the microprocessor is installed
correctly.
3.
If the problem persists, replace the
microprocessor.
If the problem persists, have the system
serviced.
Remove ac power from the server and then
restart the server.
Note: Wait 30 seconds before turning on the
server.
If the problem persists have the system
serviced.
