c. If necessary, remove the plastic panel in the front bezel for the desired flex bay.
d. Slide the new optical drive into the flex bay from the front of the computer until the optical drive
snaps into position.

e. Connect the cables to the rear of the new optical drive.

Storage drive in the front-access storage enclosure
Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Read
this first: Important safety information" on page v.
The storage drive in the front-access storage drive can be hot-swappable. When both the following
requirements are met, you can remove or install the drive without even turning off your computer.
• The SATA cable of the front-access storage enclosure is connected to the eSATA connector on the
system board. To verify the cable connection, see "Preparing your computer and removing the computer
cover" on page 61 and "Parts on the system board" on page 6 for more information.
