Tensioning the Saw Chain

1. For
tightening
chain, turn the retaining nut
clockwise.
2. For loosening the tension,
turn
the
counter clockwise.
Hints:
Only use sharp chains. Dull chains can easily get jammed. While
working with new chains, regularly check the chain tension because
new chains can lengthen considerably upon initial operation.
The service life of a saw chain mainly depends on sufficient
lubrication and correct tensioning.
During operation, the saw chain heats up, and tensioning may be
necessary. Slacken the chain after use so it will not be too tight
after cooling down.
Do not tension an overheated chain. After cooling down, the chain
may shorten and become over tensioned. Before tensioning the
saw chain, wait until it has cooled down.
