About MediaLink Projector Drivers
Projector drivers allow the MLC 206 to control basic projector functions such as
power-on, power-off, input selection, and audio volume adjustment.
In order for the MLC 206 to control a projector, you must

Projector driver library files (filename.mll) are created by Extron using projector-
specific IR or RS-232 commands. The MLC 206 uses the information in each of
these files to communicate with a specific projector.
Loading an IR (filenameIR.mll) file enables the MLC 206 to control a projector by
using infrared commands, and loading an RS-232 (filenameRS1.mll) file allows for
RS-232 projector control.
Setting Up the MLC 206
Basic setup
Step 1
Connect the MLC 206's Config port to the serial port of a host computer. Use a
serial cable with 9-pin D connectors.
Step 2
Install any optional accessories (control modules, IR Link, IR emitters, MediaLink
Switcher) that will be connected to the MLC 206. Refer to chapter two of the
MLC 206 User's Manual and to the accessories' manuals for wiring diagrams and
installation details.
Step 3
Connect a 12VDC power supply or an optional MediaLink Switcher (MLS) to the
MLC's MLS/Power port, and connect the power supply or the switcher to a power
source. See chapter two in the MLC 206 User's Manual for wiring diagrams.
Step 4
Install the MediaLink Control Program software on the host PC. To install the
software, run SETUP.EXE from the Extron-provided disk. Follow the instructions
that appear on the screen, then configure the MLC.

MLC 206 • Quick Start Guide
load a projector driver file into the MLC, and
wire an IR Emitter and/or the projector's RS-232 port to the MLC's Display/
Source Control ports.
We strongly recommend that you use an RS-232 (filenameRS1.mll) control
file wherever possible. Not all projectors support RS-232 communication;
some require IR control (filenameIR.mll).

You will need to make additional hardware connections (connecting a cable
from the MLC to the projector and/or connecting IR emitters to the MLC) that
depend on your system configuration.
