#3 CONDITION: Air motor runs slowly or sluggishly.
CAUSE
1. Valve latch (Page 11, Key 4) has popped
up.
2. Insufficiently lubricated strap.
#4 CONDITION: Feedwheel slips on top strap during tensioning.
CAUSE
1. Feedwheel teeth packed with dirt or grit.
2. Feedwheel teeth worn or chipped.
3. Bushing in outer link worn.
4. Strap not aligned properly - outer link
coming down on strap.
5. Motor assembly not dropping the
feedwheel on to the strap.
#5 CONDITION: Bottom strap slips out of tool during tensioning.
CAUSE
1. Gripper plug teeth packed with dirt or
grit.
2. Gripper plug teeth worn or chipped.
#6 CONDITION: Feedwheel will not drop onto strap when tensioning lever is pressed.
CAUSE
1. Motor plunger (Page 11, Key 37)
binding.
REMEDY
1. Check by pressing tension lever fully
and then releasing lever. Press tension
lever and hold lever fully in. If motor
speed increases, valve latch is popped
up, correct by first loosening lock
screw (Page 11, Key 30). Push valve
latch pin down and hold while
tightening lock screw.
2. Use lubricated strapping.
REMEDY
1. Clean feedwheel teeth with wire brush.
2. Replace feedwheel (Page 13, Key 114).
3. Check I.D. of bushing to determine if
hole is elongated. Replace if visually
elongated.
4. Align strap in tool properly.
5. Lubricate the support shaft (Page 13,
Key 107).
REMEDY
1. Clean teeth feedwheel with wire brush
(Page 13, Key 114).
2. Replace gripper plug.
REMEDY
1. Invert tool. Add a few drops of air line
oil to the hole in sealer frame for the
motor plunger.
