Usage guidelines
With TxRx-mode generic flow control configured, an interface can both send and receive flow control
frames:
When congested, the interface sends a flow control frame to its peer.
Upon receiving a flow control frame from the peer, the interface suspends sending packets.
To implement flow control on a link, enable generic flow control at both ends of the link.
Examples
# Enable TxRx-mode generic flow control on GigabitEthernet 1/0/1.

flow-control receive enable

Use flow-control receive enable to enable Rx-mode generic flow control on an Ethernet
port.
Use undo flow-control to disable Rx-mode generic flow control on an Ethernet port.
Syntax
flow-control receive enable
undo flow-control
Default

Usage guidelines
With Rx-mode flow control enabled, an interface can receive but cannot send flow control frames.
When the interface receives a flow control frame from its peer, it suspends sending packets to
the peer.
When traffic congestion occurs on the interface, it cannot send flow control frames to the peer.
To handle unidirectional traffic congestion on a link, configure the flow-control receive
enable command at one end, and the flow-control command at the other. To enable both
ends of the link to handle traffic congestion, configure the flow-control command at both ends.
Examples
# Enable Rx-mode generic flow control on GigabitEthernet 1/0/1.
