5.4 Checking Knife Drive Box

1. Fully open endshield(s) for access to knife drive box.

3.3 Opening Endshield, page
IMPORTANT:
The knife drive box breather is shipped in position (A)
(forward) to prevent oil loss during transport. The
breather plug MUST be repositioned to location (B) to
prevent oil loss during normal operation. Failure to do so
can result in damage to knife drive box.
2. Check position of plug (A) and breather (B) at knife
drive box. The breather MUST be repositioned to
location (B) to prevent oil loss during normal operation.
3. Check oil level. It should be between lower hole (C) on
dipstick and bottom end of dipstick. If necessary, add
oil. Use clean SAE 85W-140 lubricant.
IMPORTANT:
Check oil level with top of knife drive box horizontal.
4. Close endshield(s). Refer to
page
29.
IMPORTANT:
If header has dual knife drive (DKD), repeat on
opposite side.
