The Welcome window of the IBM System Storage DS Storage Manager
installation program displays if no problems are discovered during the initial
system check. If an error is discovered (for example, the operating system
does not match the prerequisite), an error message is displayed and the
installation program exits.
5. Click Next to continue, or click Cancel to exit the installation. When you click
Next, the License Agreement window displays.
Note: Anytime you click Cancel on any of the installation windows, a
message asking for you to confirm that you want to exit is displayed.
6. Read the license agreement and click your acceptance or nonacceptance of the
agreement. If you accept, the Next button is highlighted. Click Next to
continue or click Cancel to exit the installation. When you click Next, the
Destination Directory window is displayed.
7. Choose the directory on the Destination Directory window where you want to
install the application by using one of the following options. Clicking Next
causes the server installation checking window (a window for each server) to
display if the DS Storage Manager Server or the DS Network Interface Server
is installed on your system. If the two servers are not installed on your
system, then the Server Parameters window is displayed.
v Click the Next button to accept the default (recommended) directory that is
shown in the window.
v Type a fully qualified directory path into the Directory Name path to
designate your own directory. Then click the Next button.
v Click the Browse button and a directory window is displayed. Scroll to the
directory that you want to use for the application. Click it and click OK.
The directory path is displayed in the Directory Name field.
8. Observe the message on each of the next two Installation Checking windows
and click Next on each window to continue. If the servers have not been
installed, the Server Parameters window is displayed with default values in
the input fields. Go to Step 9 to proceed with the Server Parameters window.
For a typical installation, default server parameters can be used.
The DS Storage Manager Server Installation Checking window is displayed if
the DS Storage Manager server is already installed on your system. A message
is displayed on the window that indicates which version of the server is
installed and whether the installation process will install a newer version of
the server. To continue the installation process, you must click Next or click
Cancel to exit the installation process.
When you click Next, the DS Network Interface Server Installation Checking
window is displayed with a message. This message indicates the version of
the DS Network Interface server that is installed on your system and whether
the installation process will install a newer version of the server. To continue
the installation process, you must click Next or click Cancel to exit the
installation process.
When you click Next, the Installation Confirmation window is displayed. If
your installation process has taken you through these two checking windows,
go to Step 15 on page 41.
9. Click Next to accept the default values that are displayed on the Server
Parameters window. All fields must contain a value before you can proceed to
the next step.
You can change the default values by supplying the following information:
v Host Name — The host name of the physical machine where the DS
Storage Manager Server is installed. The host name must resolve to a
