10 Care and Maintenance
Schiltknecht measuring instruments are high-precision instruments which work
trouble-free when handled with care. If you observe the handling instructions
specified in the operating manual, your measuring instruments and sensors
will remain in perfect condition and only then is reliable operation of the
measuring system ensured. Every measuring instrument has its intended area
of application and may only be used for this.
10.1 Cleaning
The instrument and sensor must be switched off and unplugged before
cleaning.

Soiling on the display unit can be removed by the following means:
•
soap and water solution
•
EDP plastic cleaner
These solutions may only be applied to the instrument with a lint-free cloth.
Only surface cleaning! The instrument may never be immersed in the
solution.
Flow sensors
The sensors are sensitive measuring instruments and must be cleaned with
the appropriate care. For cleaning we recommend:
•
running water
•
soap and water (rinse thoroughly with distilled water)
•
pure petrol
•
fibres or other foreign bodies can be removed carefully with fine
tweezers. Make sure that blades or axle are not bent or damaged
The setting of the bearing screws may never be changed because this could
cause measuring errors. Never stick hard objects into flywheels when they
are in motion.
No cleaning agents which extract the softener from the plastic (almost all
solvents) may be used for plastic sensors. Only clean the flywheel head part.
Sensors may never be immersed completely in the solution.
