CREATING A GCODE FILE

Before making a print, you need a gcode file, which contains all the model information as
well as machine specific information about your printer. You can create the proper file
using a basic model file in STL format.
YouMagine.com is an online community website dedicated to allowing users to share and
download various basic model files, which can be used to create the gcode file. You can
freely download and use designs created by other people and can upload your own
designs for others to enjoy! Perform the steps in this section to download a model and
create the gcode file in Cura.
1. Open your internet browser and navigate to
www.youmagine.com
2. You can browse the site to find models of interest. For
this example, we will select the UItimaker Coffee Cup
mode. Click in the search field next to the magnifying
glass at the top of the page and type Coffee Cup,
then press enter.
3. Locate the Ultimaker Coffee Cup model and click the
link to go to the details and download page. Click the
Download button and save the file to your system.
4. Launch Cura, click the load button, then
locate and select the STL file you
downloaded.
