4.5 Setting up the bus connection
4.5.1 Bus connection: Control Unit and logger
Batteries or rechargeable batteries must be inserted in the Control Unit in order to be
able to set up the databus connection.
Every logger has a default bus address with which the Control Unit can identify the
logger. If several loggers are attached to each other, it can happen that two loggers
have the same address. Always only attach one logger and first check the address.
Change the address if necessary.
-> See 5.1.1 Setting the bus address on page 45
There are two options for connecting:
Direct connection of the components (Control Unit and logger)
1 Place Control Unit and logger on top of each other (2 red arrows help to position corr-
rectly). Probe sockets are located at the top of the Control Unit.
2 Press the Control Unit and logger against each other until they lock into place.
Connecting the components using a databus cable
Insert a databus cable in the sockets of the Control Unit and logger.
Please only use Testo data bus cables.
When running the cable, please ensure that the cable is not near a high-voltage curr-
rent or similiar.
4.5.2 Bus connection: databus controller and logger
Power supply for the logger and databus is ensured if the logger is supplied with vol-
tage either from the mains unit (0554 1145) or the powerbox.
Every logger has a default bus address with which the databus controller can identify
the logger. If several loggers are attached to each other, it can happen that two logg-
gers have the same address. Always only attach one logger and first check the
address. Change the address if necessary.
-> See 5.1.1 Setting the bus address on page 45

4.5.3 Terminal plug for Testo databus
The databus connection is a line structure. The Control Unit or databus controller is at
the start of this line. The last instrument equipped with the terminal plug provi-
des for a defined electrical ending.
