4. Initial operation
Recharging rechargeable battery pack
Rechargeable battery pack should be completely recharged prior to initial operation.
Recharging during operation is not possible.
· The instrument must be switched off.
· The rechargeable battery pack must be inserted in the Control Unit.
Plug in mains unit to Control Unit.
- Recharge status is shown in the Control Unit.
An empty rechargeable battery needs approx. 5.5 hours for complete recharging.

4.3 Powerbox and databus mains unit

When using the system comprising databus controller and logger, the data bus mains
unit or powerbox must be used to supply power.
With the system comprising Control Unit and logger, the powerbox or databus mains
unit can be used to easily extend the lifetime.
Refer to the Instruction Manual on testo 350M/XL and testo 454, Chapter 1.10
System examples of logger for information on how the power supply is ensured with
several loggers.
4.3.1 Powerbox
The Testo powerbox supplies the testo 454 logger system with energy. It takes over
several tasks simultaneously:
- Supplies Testo databus.
- Supplies weakest bus subscriber connected.
- Feeds up to 3 A current into system.
- Stabilisation of measurement operation.
- Maintenance of measurement operation even during downtimes.
There are 2 options for connecting:
Direct connection of components (powerbox and logger)
1 Place power and logger on top of each other (2 red arrows will help you with positio-
ning).
2 Move powerbox and logger against each other until they click into place.
Connecting the components using the databus cable
Insert databus cable into the connection sockets of the powerbox and logger.
4.3.2 Databus mains unit
The mains unit supplies the Testo databus via the adapter supplied.
1 Connect mains unit to adapter
2 Insert adapter into the databus connection socket of the logger.
- In this way an additional databus socket is not occupied in the logger.
