    Assembly Assembling the legs and pedals 1 Set the legs (a, b) upside down like the picture, then use 4 Pedal Plate/Main Body Fixers (e, use 4 out of 10) to connect the Pedal Plate (c) to the legs. Adjust the pedal plate knob (see picture) so that it would come in contact with the floor on which the piano is to be installed.

    Audio Connections External Connection Terminals (on the bottom left of the piano) q Audio Output Terminals (Line Out [L/Mono], [R]) These jacks are used when the use of a more powerful external sound producer (amplifiers etc.) is desired to reproduce the audio output of the piano. Use an audio cable (sold separately) to connect the audio output jacks (Line Out [L/Mono], [R]) of the piano and the input jack of the external device to hear the piano through the speaker system of the external device.

    LCD Description The LCD shows the current performance configuration of the piano. Main Voice Current main voice. The piano offers 128 different voices. Layer Voice Current layered voice when using the layer feature. Split Voice Current split voice when using the split feature. Split Point The point of division by which the keyboard is split when using split or auto-accompaniment.

    Basic Controls Adjusting Volume Adjusting Master Volume Use the MASTER VOLUME knob to adjust the overall volume of the piano. ☞ This also affects the volume of headphones. Choosing a Voice This product is a high class digital piano which offers the refined deep sound of quality acoustic grand pianos along with the sound of other diverse acoustic and electric musical instruments.

    GM Voices The piano is also equipped with the 128 voices that are fully compatible with the international standard GM (General MIDI), which may be recalled by pressing the GM VOICE button. Selecting a GM Voice q Press GM VOICE. The LCD will display a list of 10 GM voices, including the currently chosen voice.

    Layer Settings The Layer menu allows the adjustment of several layer-related parameters. q Press and hold down LAYER until the Layer menu pops up. w Adjust the parameters as desired. Press MOVE/ENTER to cycle through the fields and use the DATA buttons or DATA wheel to adjust the value of current field.

    Split Settings The Split menu allows the adjustment of several split-related parameters. q Press and hold down SPLIT until the Split menu pops up. w Adjust the parameters as desired.     Twin Piano Twin Piano divides the piano keyboard into two equal smaller ("twin") keyboards with nearly identical registers. This allows two people to play the piano simultaneously on the same range without running into each other. q Select a voice. Refer to page 15 for voice selection.

    Reverb Settings The Reverb menu allows the adjustment of several reverb-related parameters. q Press and hold down REVERB until the Reverb menu pops up. ☞ 7 types of reverb exist, including Hall 1, Hall 2, Hall 3, Studio 1, Studio 2, Room 1 and Room 2. w Adjust the parameters as desired.

    Mixer Mixer allows the user to adjust the individual volumes for each part (main, layer, split etc.) while viewing the others in order to control the balance between the parts. q Press MIXER. The button will be lighted, and the LCD will display the volumes of each part. w Adjust the volume of each part as desired.

    Metronome Metronome provides clicks over a steady beat to help the player keep in time while playing. Turning Metronome On/Off Press METRONOME to begin hearing metronome beats. Press METRONOME again to turn off the metronome. Adjusting Tempo The range of metronome tempo is from 40 to 250 bpm (beats per minute). It may be adjusted by using the TEMPO buttons, or the DATA wheel.

It also includes a Demo/Edu Music dedicated music data bank consisting of pedagogical etudes by Beyer (106), Czerny (100/30/40), Burgmüller (25) and selected sonatines for students (45).     The piano offers extensive utilities designed to allow adjusting the piano to suit either personal preferences of a user or a given performance Functions condition. Transpose The piano may be transposed up or down by units of semitones. It may be done to avoid having to change fingerings to accommodate playing with a singer or other instruments who are limited by their registers.

    Touch The Touch parameter determines how responsive the volume of a note is to the speed of the player's keystroke. The piano offers 10 different Touch settings to suit different types of players. Adjusting Touch Press FUNCTION, then press TOUCH to call up the Touch menu. Use the MOVE/ENTER button to reach the desired value.

    Effect Effect adds digital sound effects to the voices, allowing the piano to produce more abundant and unique colors of sound. 4 types of effect are available: Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo, and Rotary. All types of effect have their own default values, which may be adjusted by the user. Using Effect Press FUNCTION, then press EFFECT.
  • Page 33: Midi Local Control

    MIDI Local Control Intended for MIDI users, this setting is used mainly when connecting the piano to external devices like computers so as to use the piano as a MIDI input device. Setting Local Control to Off prevents the input data of the keyboard from being sent to the internal speaker system of the piano, thereby silencing it while the data is output as MIDI signals to any external devices connected to the piano.

    Other Functions q Press FUNCTION to call up the function menu. w Repeatedly press the MOVE/ENTER button to reach the desired field and use the DATA buttons or DATA wheel to adjust its value. Master Tune Tune allows fine tuning of the piano by units of cents, which is useful when the piano is to be played alongside other acoustic instruments that are tune-sensitive.

    Auto Effect If enabled, this automatically applies the optimal Reverb and Effect settings whenever a voice is selected. ☞ Range: On, Off (Default Off) ☞ If you want to keep your previous Reverb/Effect settings, this must be disabled. ☞ Refer to page 56 for details on settings applied depending on the chosen voice. Scale Tune Most western music and its instruments use the equal temperament system for tuning, but in different historic periods and/or cultures many other types of tuning systems are found.

    Linear Damper The Linear Damper feature, also commonly referred to as the Half Pedal, adjusts the duration of sustain depending on how deep the sustain pedal is pressed. ☞ Range: On, Off (Default ON) ☞ Refer to page 11 for details on pedals. LCD Contrast This determines the brightness of the LCD.

    Piano Settings This represents many parameters related to different acoustic characteristics that are related to the acoustic piano. All parameters in this category affect only the piano voices. q Press PIANO SETTING to call up the Piano Setting menu. w Press MOVE/ENTER to reach the desired field, then use the DATA buttons or DATA wheel to adjust its value.

    Key-Off Volume On acoustic pianos, as the key is released there is the subtle sound of the dampers falling back onto their strings again. The key-off samples of this piano bring the subtle yet essential sensation of key release to life. This parameter determines the volume of this effect. ☞...
  • Page 39 EQ Settings The equalizer divides all output sound of the piano into four levels of frequencies consisting of high (2.6KHz), mid-high (1.2KHz), mid-low (300Hz) and low (115Hz), and allows to make volume adjustments to each level independently. Setting Equalizer Press and hold down the EQ button until the EQ menu pops up. Use the DATA buttons or DATA wheel to set the values as desired.

    The piano features a versatile auto accompaniment system that is capable of providing fitting rhythmic accompaniment to diverse musical genres. This Auto Accompaniment system also provides a chordal accompaniment feature that detects simple chord inputs from the player and generates a full accompaniment consisting of drums, bass and chords.

    Ending the Auto Accompaniment There are three methods to end the accompaniment. q End immediately Press START/STOP to immediately stop an ongoing accompaniment. w End with a closing pattern Press INTRO/END while an accompaniment is ongoing. A closing passage of maximum 12 measures will be played before the accompaniment terminates.

    Chordal Accompaniment The auto accompaniment feature is able to generate chordal accompaniment as indicated by the player on the keys, following the chosen rhythmic pattern. When this is enabled, besides the drums and percussions the accompaniment also adds on melodic instruments to play the chords so that anyone may enjoy playing music of different genres.

    Chord Input Methods There are three available methods for a player to indicate chords to be generated. ♬ Fingered (Default) The fingered mode detects a chord only when all notes of the chord is played on the lower register (determined by the Split Point).     The piano features an extensive recording system to record the player's performance. The recordings may be saved to a USB flash memory for Record convenience, and saved recordings may be recalled for playback at user's discretion.     Registration allows the user to save all current settings and parameters of the piano to the registration memories, so that they may be recalled for easy use in the future.
