B Uninstalling a License

This Appendix describes how to uninstall the controller product activation license. This will be
necessary if you want to re-purpose a module or have experienced module failure and wish to
save the license for use elsewhere.
Both the switch CLI and the My Networking portal are used in this procedure.

Uninstalling a License

This procedure is started from the switch CLI prompt that looks like this:
HP Switch 5406zl#
1. Switch to the prompt for the controller module to be uninstalled:
Services <slot-id> 1
where <slot-id> identifies the slot containing the controller.
2. Boot the module into its Service OS:
boot service
3. At the "Do you want to continue..." prompt, select "y" for yes.
Here is an example with a controller in slot A:
HP Switch 5406zl# services a 1
HP Switch 5406zl(services-module-A:PR)# boot service
Changing boot from Product OS to Service OS.
System will be rebooted. Do you want to continue [y/n]?
Rebooting

4. Wait approximately two minutes for the boot process to complete.
5. Confirm that the module slot now appears in the Index=1 row, similar to this (in this example
look for slot A in the Index=1 row):

6. Launch the Service OS CLI:
Services <slot-id> 1
where <slot-id> identifies the slot containing the controller.
Note how the prompt changes to indicate that you are now in the Service OS CLI. The two-letter
code after the slot ID in the prompt changes from PR to HD. The new prompt looks similar to
this:

7. Enter the uninstall command:
license uninstall activation 0
and respond "y" to the confirmation prompt. The full sequence looks like this:

HP Switch 5406zl(services-module-A:HD)#
HP Switch 5406zl(services-module-A:HD)# license uninstall activation 0
Are you sure you want to uninstall the license? (y/n) y
