Appendix C: Wireless Networks

A properly functioning wireless network for the N800 consists of:
One or more N800s
An ELAN SS1 System Station
A Router
A Wireless Access Point (WAP)
The Router and WAP may be combined into a single device.
SS1 System Station
The SS1 System Station is an RS-232, IR, Sense and Relay controller. It also
translates the N800's 8.02.11b/g WiFi commands into actions that can con-
trol system functions including Home Theater or a zone control of an ELAN
multi-room system. Future software/feature-set enhancements to the SS1
are field-upgradeable through VIA!TOOLS setup software.

Router
A router is a computer networking device that forwards data to its proper
destination and connects two or more networks together. Routers typically
connect home networks to the Internet. Wireless Routers that combine the
functions of a Router and WAP are popular options for home networks.
