An OptEnet Set Top Optical Media Converter SM to MM is one version that may be ordered. This
unit is designed to convert optical signals transported on a single mode link to an optical signal that
can be transported on a multi-mode link. Both (single mode and multi-mode) optical transceivers
operate at or near 1310-nm (long wavelength). The unit also performs the reverse function,
converting multi-mode signals to single mode signals. A block diagram of the basic converter
assembly is shown in
