OptEnet SM to MM Media Converter units support protocol and data rates between 10 Mb/s and
650 Mb/s with a binary NRZ optical line code.

ATM/SONET/SDH
* - Systems supporting FDDI or 100 Mb/s Ethernet must support a BER of 1 X 10
received power is 2dB above the minimum receiver level.
** - Bit error rates are defined at the minimum received power level for each protocol. SMPTE stan-
dards for digital protocols do not currently list a BER value.
2 TRANSMISSION RANGES
Maximum cable length for optical transmission depends on the type of fiber used. The
maximum cable length is the cable length that the signal can travel without suffering from
attenuation (degradation). See

* - The maximum distance that any optical link can support is dependent upon attenuation and dispersion
at a particular wavelength, maximum bit rate, receiver sensitivity, splice and connector loss, etc. The
information presented for single mode and multi-mode cable is based on the applicable applications
standards and does not consider installation variables.
