Before You Use the Fax Functions

The following settings must be made before you use the machine's fax functions.
IMPORTANT
• The fax will not function properly unless the necessary settings are made before it is used.
Enter the Phone Line Type
Enter the type of phone line connected to the machine.
The line type is defined in the contract between the telephone company and the customer. Be
sure to correctly indicate whether your line is a dial (pulse tone) line or a push button (tone) line.

Enter the Sender Information
Enter the sender information to be printed at the recipient's end.
When the sender information is printed, it appears similar to the sample shown. At the receiving
end, some fax models also display this information while receiving the fax.
Date

Records the sending date and time.
• Tel. # (See "Setting the Phone Number," on p. 4-30.)
Records the phone number of the machine.
• Sender Name (See "Setting the Unit Name," on p. 4-29.)
Records the names of the User and Sender as entered in the machine.
• Recipient Name (See "Setting the Send One-touch Buttons," in the Reference Guide .)

Records recipient's name or abbreviation as entered in the machine. Use with one-
touch, abbreviated dialing, or the address book.
• Pages
Records the number of pages in the document and the current page number.
NOTE
• You can turn the sender information off so that it will not print, even though it is entered in your machine.

• The sender information includes the number of pages in a document and the registered items of the
sender.
• The sender's name can also be specified from the fax driver.
