Replacement of these welds can be achieved with the use of a MIG welder, as used as normal in low / high strength
steel panel replacement. Proper welding equipment set up can be found in the Weld Process Chart, (Refer to Collision
Information ­ Specifications).
Replacement:
1. Grind all remaining Aluminum Bronze weldment, contaminants and coatings off of the mating surfaces, within 25mm.
(1in.) of the area the welds are to be placed. The metal should be completely bare and shiny in appearance, if the
metal appears pewter in color all of the galvanized coating has not been completely removed.
2. Place the parts into position. Parts should fit tightly together.
3. With welding clamps or similar tools, clamp the sections together.
4. Apply welds to the necessary areas.
5. The exposed area should be cleaned and welds dressed.
6. Refinish all exposed surfaces, using quality refinish materials.
7. Apply inner panel rust proofing, inject Moper Cavity wax kit (part #68042969AA), Mopar wax refill (part
#68042970AA) or equivalent, to the inner cavity. A double application should be applied. Allow a minimum of
30­minutes flash time between the first and second coats.
