2. Note the orientation of the socket cover, and install one side of the socket cover into the microprocessor
socket. Carefully press the other side of the socket cover downward until the socket cover snaps
into position.
Note: Your microprocessor socket and cover might look slightly different from the illustration.

3. Carefully check the four corners of the socket cover to ensure that the cover is secured.
4. Follow any additional instructions that are included with the replacement part you received.

Replacing the LCD panel assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
2 "Safety information" on page 3.
This section provides instructions on how to replace the LCD panel assembly.
To replace the LCD panel assembly, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or other flat surface. Hold the sides of your computer and
gently lay it down so that the screen is against the surface and the cover is facing up.
3. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 79.
4. Locate the LCD panel assembly in the computer. See "Locating major FRUs and CRUs" on page 70.
5. Remove the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 84.
6. Remove the converter board. See "Replacing the converter board" on page 105.
7. Remove the feet. See "Replacing the feet" on page 80.
