6.3. Adjusting the idle speed.
6.3.1. A screw just behind air filter cover regulates the throttle setting at idle speed. If it
becomes necessary the user can adjust the idle speed.
6.3.2. Before adjusting, make sure that the air filter is clean and the air filter cover is fitted
6.3.3. Turning the screw clockwise increases the idle speed; turning it anti-clockwise
decreases the idle speed.
6.3.4. The idle speed is correctly adjusted when the engine runs smoothly in every throttle
position. There should also be a clear margin to the speed at which the trimmer head starts
to move. The trimmer head must also remain stationary when the choke control is in the
start throttle position.
6.4. Trimmer blade sharpening
When sharpening the blade you MUST wear safety gloves.
6.4.1. Remove the cutting blade from the shield. Remove the blade by undoing the 3 self-
tapping screws (put in a safe place). Place the blade firmly into a vice.
6.4.2. Sharpen blade using a suitable flat file. You MUST maintain the blades original cutting
angle.
6.4.3. Reverse process to refit blade.
