Electric Connection

The electric connection should be done by a specialist.
To avoid short-circuits and resulting damages of the CD tuner, the
negative pole (ground) of the vehicle battery must be disconnected
during connection.
Only connect the negative pole of the battery, when you have
completely connected the system and checked the connections.
If you want to test the voltage in on-board lines, only use a voltmeter
or a diode test lamp, since regular test lamps consume too much
current and could damage the electronic on-board system.
When laying the cables, make sure they are not bent or jammed or
chafing at sharp edges. Please use rubber bushings at the
penetration spots.
The line towards the loudspeakers must be a bifilar cable. Insulate
the open connections. Make sure that no wires can be damaged by
sharp edges.
Only use loudspeakers with a sufficient power rating (see "Technical
Data").
Make sure that all loudspeakers have the correct polarity, i.e. the
plus and minus signs must match.
The connecting cables of the loudspeakers are usually coded: Some
manufacturers mark the (+) line with an additional colour band.
Others use a corrugated line for the (+) pole and a smooth one for
the (-) pole.
The system was designed for the operation at loudspeaker
impedances of at least 4 Ohm.
Never connect loudspeakers with an inferior impedance.
In most vehicles the cables for the electric connection and the connection of
the loudspeakers have been laid directly to the installation recess.
If this is not the case, please make sure that any cables placed later are
secured by the respective on-board fuses (see vehicle operation manual).
