11. Make sure the lines are not caught
between the rim of the spool and the
wall of the cover.
12. Reinstall the spool and cover onto the
trimmer head. Push until the cover
snaps into place.

REPLACE THE CUTTING HEAD

1. Align the hole in the dust cup with
the hole in the side of the gearbox by
rotating the dust cup.
2. Insert a small screwdriver into the
aligned holes. This will keep the shaft
from turning while removing and
installing the trimmer head.
3. STRAIGHT SHAFT MODELS — While
holding the screwdriver in position,
remove the trimmer head by turning
it. Turn the trimmer head clockwise to
remove it.
CURVED SHAFT MODELS — While
holding the screwdriver in position,
remove the trimmer head by turning it.
Turn the trimmer head counterclockwise
to remove it.
4. STRAIGHT SHAFT MODELS — Thread
the replacement trimmer head onto the
shaft by turning it. Tighten until secure.
Turn the trimmer head counterclockwise
to install it.
CURVED SHAFT MODELS — Thread
the replacement trimmer head onto the
shaft by turning it. Tighten until secure.
Turn the trimmer head clockwise to
install it.
5. Remove the screwdriver.

Allow engine to idle. Adjust speed until
engine runs without trimmer head, blade
or optional attachment moving or spinning
(idle too fast) or stalling (idle speed too
slow).
Turn idle speed screw clockwise to
increase engine speed if engine stalls or
dies.
Turn idle speed screw counterclockwise
to decrease engine speed if trimmer head,
blade or optional attachment moves or
spins at idle.
