Recording Media and Accessories
Cannot insert the recording media.
- The CFast card or SD card you are trying to insert is not facing the correct direction. Turn it over and insert it.
Cannot record 4K clips on the CFast card.
- A compatible CFast card must be used (A 31).
- Initialize the CFast card (A 33) when you use it with the camcorder for the first time.
- The CFast card is full or it already contains the maximum number of clips (999 clips). Delete some clips (A 108) to
free some space or replace the CFast card.
Cannot record HD clips or photos on the SD card.
- A compatible SD card must be used (A 31).
- Initialize the SD card (A 33) when you use it with the camcorder for the first time.
- The LOCK switch on the SD card is set to prevent accidental erasure. Change the position of the LOCK switch.
- The SD card is full or it already contains the maximum number of clips (999 clips). Delete some recordings (A 108) to
free some space or replace the recording media.
- The folder and file numbers have reached their maximum value. Set [Recording Setup] > [3] (in
mode) or [1] (in
- While an external device is connected to the HDMI OUT terminal, you cannot take photos while recording a clip.
The supplied remote controller will not work.
- Set [System Setup] > [2] (in
- Replace the battery of the remote controller.
The optional Speedlite will not fire.
- Make sure the optional Speedlite is attached correctly to the camcorder.
- The following functions are not compatible with this camcorder: flash mode settings of MULTI, Ext.A and Ext.B; FEB
(except for the ±0 setting); and second curtain sync.
- When the shooting mode is set to ƒ and [Fireworks] is selected, the optional flash will not fire when the [Camera
Setup] > [2] > [Flash] > [Flash Mode] setting is set to [Automatic]. Change the setting to [Manual].
- The optional Speedlite will not fire in interval recording mode.
- When you are using the 320EX Speedlite, the Speedlite will not fire if the LED light is on. Set the Speedlite's LED light
switch to M and then turn off the LED light.
The flash exposure compensation level cannot be adjusted even though the [Camera Setup] > [2] > [Flash] >
[Flash Exp. Comp.] setting has been selected.
- When a flash exposure compensation level other than ±0 has been selected on the optional Speedlite, you cannot set
the level with the camcorder. Set the Speedlite's level to ±0.
When using an optional Speedlite, the shutter speed changes.
- When the [Camera Setup] > [2] > [Flash] > [High-speed Sync.] setting is set to [Off], the shutter speed is limited to
1/250 or slower. Change the setting to [On] and adjust the shutter speed.
When using an optional Speedlite, the flash output is not at an appropriate level.
- When using a Speedlite that is not an EX-series Speedlite*, you may not be able to control the flash output correctly.
- The [Camera Setup] > [2] > [Flash] > [Flash Mode] setting is set to [Manual] and the [Flash Output] setting is set to
1/1. Adjust the [Flash Output] setting.
- Shooting with the [Camera Setup] > [2] > [Flash] > [High-speed Sync.] setting on consumes a large amount of
power. Depending on the distance to the subject, the flash may not recharge quickly enough, resulting in a darker
picture. In such case, turn the setting off.
* EX-series Speedlites include the 270EX II, 320EX, 430EX II, 580EX II and 600EX-RT.
