2. LUBRICATING SYSTEM

[1] GENERAL

(A) Piston
(B) Rocker Arm and Rocker
Arm Shaft
The lubricating system consists of an oil strainer, an oil pump, a relief valve, an oil filter cartridge and an oil
pressure switch. The oil pump sucks the lubricating oil in the oil pan through the strainer and sends it to the oil filter
cartridge, where the oil is further filtered.
The filtered oil is forced to the crankshaft, the connecting rods, the idle gear, the camshaft and the rocker arm
shaft through the oil passage in the cylinder block and the shafts to lubricate the bearings.
Some oil, splashed by the crankshaft or thrown off from the bearings, lubricates other engine parts: the pistons,
the cylinder walls, the piston pins, the tappets, the push rods, the timing gears, and the inlet and exhaust valves.
