Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The view of a specified interface is displayed.

The description is configured for the interface.

3.2.5 Starting and Shutting Down an Interface

When a physical interface is idle and is not connected to a cable, shut down this interface to
protect the interface against interference. To use a shutdown interface, you need to start the
interface.

NOTE
l A null interface is always Up and cannot be shut down by command.
l A loopback interface is always Up and cannot be shut down by command.
Shutting down the interface
Do as follows on the S7700.
1. Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2. Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The view of a specified interface is displayed.
3. Run:
shutdown
The interface is shut down.
NOTE
By default, an interface is enabled.
