Configure IRF priority
Configure the domain and IRF parameters. The <<net_switch_domain_id>> value is an arbitrary number,
but must be unique from other IRF domains. Switch prompts will not be displayed in the remaining switch
configuration information in this section of the documentation.
From system-view, run the following commands.
system-view
irf domain <<net_switch_domain_id>>
irf member 1 priority 32
irf member 2 priority 30
irf mac-address persistent always
Configure Multi-Active Detection (MAD) and Remote access to the switch
Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends that you implement a multi-active detection (MAD) mechanism
to detect the presence of multiple identical IRF fabrics, handle collisions, and recover from faults in the
unlikely event of an IRF split or failure. For more information, see HPE 5920 & 5900 Switch Series IRF
Configuration Guide. Configuration of MAD is not covered in this document.
Configure the VLANs
To create the necessary VLANs, complete the following step on both switches.
From system-view, run the following commands.
vlan <<mgmt_net_vlan>>
name MGMT-VLAN
quit
vlan <<vmotion_net_vlan>>
name vMotion-VLAN
quit
vlan <<iscsi_net_vlan>>
name iSCSI-VLAN
quit
vlan <<vm_production_net_1_vlan>>
name VM-Production-VLAN1
quit
save
Configure IP addresses
There are several ways, both inband and out of band, to assign an IP address to the IRF switch pair to
manage it. The following example will demonstrate how to configure inband management using the
<<mgmt._net_vlan>> vlan interface.
From system-view, run the following commands.
interface Vlan-interface <<mgmt_net_vlan>>
ip address <<net_switch1_mgmt_ip>> <<mgmt_net_netmask>>
quit
save
