Replacing the storage drive

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the storage drive, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page .
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 82.
4. Remove the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 83.
5. Locate the storage drive. See "Computer components" on page 31.
6. Disconnect the signal cable and the power cable from the storage drive.
1. Remove the screw that secures the hard disk drive bracket. Then, remove the hard disk drive bracket
out of the chassis.

2. Remove the four screws that secure the hard disk drive. Then, slide the hard disk drive out of the
hard disk drive bracket.
