2. Remove the microprocessor from the failing system board, and then install it onto the new system
board. See "Replacing the microprocessor" on page 96.
3. To install the new system board, align the six screw holes in the system board with the corresponding
holes in the chassis. Then, install the six screws to secure the system board to the chassis.
4. Route all the cables that you disconnected from the system board, and then connect the cables to the
system board. See "Parts on the system board" on page 34.
5. Reinstall the PCI Express card. See "Replacing a PCI Express card" on page 100.
6. Reinstall the Wi-Fi card. See "Replacing the Wi-Fi card" on page 101.
7. Reinstall the heat sink assembly. See "Replacing the heat sink and fan assembly" on page 95.
8. Reinstall the coin-cell battery. See "Replacing the coin-cell battery" on page 94.
9. Reinstall the memory modules. See "Replacing a memory module" on page 99.
10. Reinstall the thermal sensor. See "Replacing the thermal sensor" on page 90.
11. Reinstall the system fan assembly. See "Replacing the system fan assembly" on page 89.
12. Reinstall the front audio and USB assembly. See "Replacing the front audio and USB assembly"
on page 88.
13. Reinstall the card reader. See "Replacing the card reader" on page 86.
14. Reinstall the storage drive. See "Replacing the storage drive" on page 85.
15. Reinstall the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 83.
16. Reinstall the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 82.
17. Reinstall the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page .
18. Connect the external cables and the power cord to the computer.
The failing system board must be returned with a microprocessor socket cover to protect the pins during
shipping and handling.
To install the microprocessor socket cover, do the following:
