3. Ensure that the small handle is in the raised position and the microprocessor retainer is fully open.
4. Remove the protective cover that protects the gold contacts of the new microprocessor.
1. Note the orientation of the new microprocessor. Hold the new microprocessor by its edges and align
the notches 1 on it with the tabs

2. Close the microprocessor retainer and lock it into position with the small handle to secure the new
microprocessor in the socket.
3. Reinstall the heat sink and fan assembly. See "Replacing the heat sink and fan assembly" on page 95.
4. Reconnect all cables that were disconnected from the system board.
