Replacing the front audio and USB assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the front audio and USB assembly, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page .
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 82.
4. Remove the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 83.
5. Remove the storage drive. See "Replacing the storage drive" on page 85.
6. Remove the card reader. See "Replacing the card reader" on page 86.
7. Locate the front audio and USB assembly. See "Computer components" on page 31.
8. Disconnect the front audio and USB assembly cables from the system board. See "Parts on the
system board" on page 34.
9. Release the front audio and USB assembly cables from the cable clip that secures the cables to the
chassis and note the cable routing.
1. Remove the screw that secures the front audio and USB assembly. Then remove the front audio and
USB assembly from the chassis.

2. Install the front audio and USB assembly into the chassis and align the screw hole in the bracket with
the corresponding hole in the chassis.
3. Install the screw to secure the assembly to the chassis.
4. Reconnect the front audio and USB assembly cables to the system board. See "Parts on the system
board" on page 34.
5. Reinstall the card reader. See "Replacing the card reader" on page 86.
6. Reinstall the storage drive. See "Replacing the storage drive" on page 85.
7. Reinstall the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 83.
8. Reinstall the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 82.
