Operating theatre shoes

Operating theatre shoes, and/or insoles made of heat-sensitive ma-
terials should be cleaned and chemically disinfected at 60 °C using
the CHEM-DESIN programme.
These can only be thermally disinfected (using the SHOE-TD-75/2
programme) if the manufacturer states that they are made of a suit-
ably heat-resistant material.
For reprocessing operating theatre (OP) shoes to an A
tion standard, the SHOE-60 programme must be programmed in ret-
rospectively by Miele.
To establish the effectiveness of chemical disinfecting agents for dis-
infection consult the manufacturer.
Theatre shoes should be cleaned and disinfected in a machine in-
stalled specifically for this purpose only. If theatre shoes are to
be processed in a washer-disinfector which is used for other ap-
plications, a risk assessment must be carried out by the user.
Mobile unit E 775-2 with a suitable insert, e.g. E 930 can be used for
this purpose.
A large amount of fluff can build up in the machine when cleaning
theatre shoes. The filters in the wash cabinet should therefore be
checked regularly, and cleaned when necessary. See "Cleaning
and care".
