3. Hazard, Safety and Warning notices

Intended use
„ This portable scanner has been designed for private use and is not suitable to be used for
commercial purposes
Hazards for children and persons with limited ability to operate electronic
equipment
„ The portable scanner, accessories and packaging are not toys for children to play with and
should be kept away from children. There could be a risk of electrocution, poisoning and
suffocation.
„ The device may not be used by persons (including children) with a limited physical, sensory or
mental ability or persons not being able to operate the device due to a lack of experience and/or
knowhow, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for safety or have received
instructions on how to operate the device.
„ Children should be supervised, to ensure that they are not playing with the device.
Electrical hazard
„ Switch off device if foreign bodies or fluid has entered the portable scanner, disconnect from
mains and/or remove batteries. Leave all parts to dry thoroughly, danger of fire and electrocution.
„ If the portable scanner has been dropped or its housing has been damaged, switch off device,
disconnect from mains and/or remove batteries, danger of fire and electrocution.
„ The portable scanner may not be dismantled, modified or repaired, there is a danger of fire and
electrocution.
„ Use only a USB power supply with the rated input voltage specified on the rating plate, danger of
fire and electrocution. The device is disconnected from the mains by disconnecting the USB
power supply from the mains socket.
„ The connected USB power supply can continue to consume power and represent a hazard source.
„ The USB power supply may not be used during a thunder storm, there is danger of electrocution.
Damage from heat – fire hazard
„ Do not leave the portable scanner in places that are susceptible to considerable increases in
temperature (e.g. in a vehicle). The housing and internal parts may be damaged, which in turn
could cause a fire.
„ Do not wrap up portable scanner and USB power supply or place on textiles. This could produce
a build-up of heat in the device that could cause deformation of the housing and may represent a
fire hazard.
