5.6. Formatting the memory card

This function formats the memory card and deletes all pictures and data contained on there.
Note:
• Caution: Formatting irrevocably deletes all files contained on the memory card. All impor-
tant data should therefore be saved to the computer prior to formatting.
Write-protected memory cards cannot be formatted.
1. Insert a microSD or microSDHC memory card in the switched off scanner.
2. Switch on scanner.
3. Press the FORMAT key to change the formatting mode. The LCD display now shows "F".
4. Press the ENTER key to start formatting of the memory card. (To cancel the formatting press
FORMAT again.)
5. The "SD" display flashes until formatting has been completed. The number of existing files is then
shown to be "0".

5.7. Setting the resolution

Press the DPI key to select a high, medium or low resolution. At a high resolution, the documents
are scanned at 900 dpi (dots per inch), at the medium resolution at 600 dpi and at the low resolution
at 300 dpi.
The respective symbol for high (HI), medium (MI) or low (LO) resolution is shown on the LCD display.
Note:
• At the higher resolution the quality of the scanned document is better but the document
requires more memory on the memory card.

5.8. Setting the scanner operating mode

Documents and images can be scanned in colour and in b/w.
Press the COLOR/MONO key to select colour or b/w scanning. The respective symbol for colour
(COLOR) or b/w (MONO) is displayed on the LCD display.
Note:
• Text documents to be processed with the enclosed text recognition software (OCR soft-
ware) should be scanned in b/w and at high resolution to achieve a better text recog-
nition.
