5.2. Inserting a memory card

A microSD or a microSDHC memory card must be inserted to scan documents or photos (a 4 GB
microSD card is supplied with the scanner). The memory card is inserted in the scanner as follows:
1. Switch off scanner by pressing the ON/OFF key.
2. Insert memory card in the slot as illustrated on the device, until the memory card clicks into place.
Note:
• Do not insert memory card with force as this could damage the scanner or memory card.
In case of problems with inserting the card, position memory card as shown in the
illustration and retry inserting it into the slot.
• The supplied microSDHC memory card and all new memory cards must be formatted prior
to use (see also section 5.5. "Formatting the memory card").

5.3. Connecting to power

The portable scanner can be battery and mains operated. The scanner can be connected to power
via the supplied USB power supply plugged into a mains socket or a USB connection to a computer.
Insert the USB cable into the USB port on the scanner. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the
USB power supply plugged into a mains socket. The USB cable can also be connected directly to a
computer.
Note:
• Once the scanner is connected to power, no battery power is used.
• If charged batteries have been inserted, the scanner remains switched on once the power
connection is disrupted.
• Rechargeable batteries cannot be recharged in the scanner.
