8. Fault finding

Problem
Scanner cannot be switched on.
Images cannot be saved after
scanning.
The scanner is not detected by the
computer after connection. (The
memory card is not shown as a remo-
vable storage device.)
Batteries discharge within short time Incorrect battery type
Blurry images
Document is not being pulled in and
motor makes a noise
Only half the image is displayed.
Cause
1. Batteries are empty.
2. Batteries not inserted correctly.
1. The memory card was not inserted
correctly.
2. The memory card is full.
3. The memory card was not format-
ted correctly.
4. The memory card is write pro-
tected.
Connection fault
1. Scanning lens is soiled.
2. Contact image sensor has not been
calibrated for some time.
Document pile up.
The document has slipped during
scanning.
Solution
1. Change batteries.
2. Insert batteries as specified.
1. Insert memory card correctly.
2. Transfer images from memory card
to the computer to free up space on
the memory card.
3. Also observe information of
section 4.
4. Remove write protection.
1. Ensure that all cables are con-
nected correctly and restart compu-
ter, if necessary.
2. Connect the USB cable and press
the ENTER key.
Replace batteries with four new AA
alkaline batteries or rechargeable
batteries.
1. Clean the lens with the supplied
cleaning card.
2. Recalibrate the scanner.
Switch off scanner, take out docu-
ment and rescan document.
Insert document correctly and scan
again.
