7. Use with computer

7.1. Connecting to a computer
Using the supplied USB cable, the scanner can be connected to a computer to transfer pictures from
the memory card to the computer or view the images on the computer screen.
No drivers have to be installed as the scanner is recognized as a USB removable storage device for
which drivers have been preinstalled for all Windows systems (2000, XP, Vista, 7 or 8). The scanner
can also be connected to Mac systems from OS 10.4 onwards.
As soon as the devices have been connected by the USB cable press the ENTER key on the switched-
on scanner. The LCD display then shows "USB".
The computer displays an additional drive named "Removable storage device" (Mac:"Unknown"),
through which files on the memory card used in the scanner can be accessed.
Remove cable from scanner to interrupt the USB connection. If the scanner contains charged batte-
ries, the scanner will change back to the Scan mode.
7.2. Installing the text recognition software
Using the supplied text recognition software ABBYY FineReader 9.0 Sprint or ABBYY Screenshot
Reader, scanned documents can be converted to text again.
Note:
• Back up any data prior to installing the supplied software.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for any loss of data.
• To transfer data, the scanner can also be connected to the computer without installing the
software.
1. Insert the CD ROM supplied with the scanner in the CD/DVD drive of your computer. A welcome
screen appears.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
