Replacing the lamp in your generator car
Y
o replace the lamp inside the generator car, first remove the end screw that holds the
frame to the body. Now, gently push the shell backwards to release the frame from the
slots on the body. Before lifting the body off the frame, note that two wires are attached from
the frame to the inside of the shell. Gently lift off the shell and it set to the side of the frame,
being careful not to disconnect the wires.
Now, lift off the light dispersion assembly as shown below. Grasp the lamp and turn it
counter clockwise until the pins on the base of the lamp release from the channels in the lamp
holder.
Replace the lamp with Lionel part no. 600-0363-300, available from your authorized
Lionel Service Center or Lionel Service. See Lionel Service on page 8 for more details. Replace
the light cover.
To reassemble the car, slide the slots on the shell over the tabs on the frame. Note: Take
care that the two wires are completely inside the shell, and that they do not touch the light
dispersion assembly.
As you position the shell on the frame, be careful to push the metal activation switch in
toward the generator, making sure it clears the tab on the door. Reinsert the front screw, and
you're ready to roll!

If the rotation of the light dispersion assembly slows or hesitates, apply a small amount of
powdered graphite or baby powder to the top of the drive washer.
