  • Page 4 Adding smoke fluid to your scale caboose’s smoke unit our caboose is equipped with a smoke generator that produces safe, clean, white smoke during operation. The smoke generator requires the periodic addition of Lionel smoke fluid in order to function properly. Follow the steps below to add smoke fluid. We strongly recommend that you add smoke fluid using a needle applicator (available at your local hardware or hobby store).
  • Page 5: Switching Your Smoke Generator On Or Off

    Switching your smoke generator ON or OFF s illustrated in Figure 4, the SMOKE switch is located on the underside of your caboose. Sliding this switch to the ON position will activate the smoke generator. Be sure that you have added smoke fluid when the switch is in the ON position. Slide the switch to the OFF position to turn off the smoke unit.

    Installing the scale smokestack our caboose is equipped with an operational smokestack that was installed at the factory. Use this smokestack when you operate the smoke generator. This stack was designed to vent the smoke properly. To give your caboose a more prototypical appearance, you may choose to install the scale smokestack.

    4. Carefully lift off the roof, separating the tabs on the roof sections from the slots in the body. The roof is secured to the car by four tabs, located on the sides of the caboose near the corners of the body. Refer to Figure 6.

    (or copy) from an Authorized Lionel Retailer*, will at the discretion of Lionel LLC, be repaired or replaced, without charge for parts or labor. In the event the defective product cannot be repaired, and a suitable replacement is not available, Lionel will offer to replace the product with a comparable model (determined by Lionel LLC), if available.
